Buddy, our 8 month old, Australian Blue Heeler pup, was in need of some basic skills. We signed him up for classes with Odette and he did very well. Each week we built on the fundamentals and learned something new, our weekly progress was amazing. Buddy graduated and we were very happy.
A few months later, he started to display some behaviours that we thought were just "cute" but in fact were behaviours that were reactive, including some resource guarding. After talking with Odette, we decided to enrol him in "boot camp" a board and train program Odette offers.
She took Buddy for a week and when he returned, he was an improved dog! His teaching and maintaining the skills he had learned with her just began. She spent time in our home environment to teach us how to continue his training. Her time spent with us was so valuable, and we still refer to this. The results were excellent!
Odette has so much knowledge and all the training skills for teaching your dog. When training your dog, it is serious. You and your dog are there to learn and be engaged in the process, I like that! Buddy loves Odette! He looks to her for attention and approval.
I have done more classes with Odette and Buddy recently graduated her advanced class which included going to different towns and locations to give more experiences in everyday life settings. This was so good for both dog and parent. We also participate in "Train and Play” groups that Odette offers. We would like to continue training and challenging Buddy’s mind, he strives to do well.
The best reward of being a part of Odette's training is when family come over and cannot believe how well-behaved Buddy is! That is the best form of compliment a dog owner can receive.
The benefits of Odette's K9 solutions training approach are a friend and companion that listens, who is enjoyable to be around and knowing that he has the skills and training to last for a lifetime. We would highly recommend Odette's K9 Solutions, if you take your dog to Odette your friend will be fortunate. Thanks Odette!

Working with Odette’s K9 Solutions is the best decision we could have possibly made for our puppy, Echo! Echo loves Odette, we love her, and we have seen Echo’s behaviour improve after every single session with her. This has given us the confidence to take him out into the community to interact with other dogs, people and places!
Odette genuinely connects with every dog she works with. She focuses on challenging dogs to be successful in different environments and under different conditions. She knows our dog – his behaviours and quirks – and what to do with them! Odette goes out of her way to cater to a schedule that works for you! And comes to our home too!
We have seen significant, positive improvements in our puppy’s behaviour. We have also researched so many trainers and spoke with so many of our friends and family that have used trainers in the past, and no one is seeing the results we are!
We have only been doing training a few short months, and already we have been able to reach many goals! Our puppy is getting more comfortable with basic commands and is now starting to practice these skills outside of our home, where there are distractions.

You’ll never get a more understanding, nurturing, motivating and knowledgeable trainer.
We have 2 very different boys and she was able to change her approach to suit everyone’s needs. Odette helped me build more confidence in myself, so that I could be the person my dog needed me to be. We learned the importance of consistency, reward and fair training.
Piper has the freedom to be free in our fence less yard because we worked hard on consistency with her foundation skills and then worked on off leash skills. This allowed the trust to grow for both myself and Piper. This was what I always wanted for her, to have freedom, with trust.
It’s amazing that I can open my door without Piper trying to run out or jump up on people when they come over. I’m able to sit my deck and not have to trip on a dog line.
I was surprised how much work I needed to do to become the best for my dog but am glad I kept up with it. Once I viewed my relationship with Piper as a relationship of respect, love and trust, the pieces just fell into place.
Piper makes me feel proud of both of our accomplishments.

Thanks to Odette’s incredible way of getting us out of our comfort zone and facing our insecurities, either by smartly giving us another dog to train for the class or handing over 3 dogs to walk at a time and making us think on our feet. I’ve come to realize that it’s not only Sadie who benefits from the Train & Play classes but me as well!
Sadie and I leave every class with more confidence and a step closer to becoming the best we can be to each other. That was a great surprise for me, as I never dreamt I would be able to train Sadie, much less have her listen to any commands. Another surprise is that Sadie thrives on being trained. I remember Odette telling us we had a very smart dog who needed physical and mental exercise daily to tire her out daily. She was right and Sadie thrives on being challenged. I work with her at home, at the park and when we go walking. I find I want to challenge her because I see the results of how well she responds.
One thing that sticks in my mind is Odette saying, you need to have control of your dog in every situation. Which comes with practice of what you have been taught by Odette.
I would recommend Odette to anyone (and I do) who is struggling to get control of their dog or who has a puppy who needs a guiding hand on how to create good habits from the beginning.

Miss Margo is a big dog in a little dogs body! Born deaf and having a strong working drive, was a recipe for disaster. I was called in after she decided to 'herd' a large number of cows into an electric fence that broke and the cows were loose!
We started working immediately with e-collar conditioning and she responded wonderfully. The family worked hard and it paid off. They now have a reliably trained deaf dog!
"I found myself a little out of my dog training depth when I took on a second dog that was both high drive and deaf. With no idea where to start, I researched the subject and began contacting trainers for assistance. I spoke to a few but felt that Odette understood what needed to be done to move forward with our situation and rural lifestyle.
She came to our home and showed us how to work positively with our dogs, fine tuning our skills. When I had questions and concerns that I may not be able to accomplish the training, she remained positive and helped us through the tough moments (that every journey to a well behaved dog goes through)."
Thanks for everything Odette !! You were a big help !!

We started our training journey with Odette when Nova was 14 months old. At that time she was terrible at leash walking and struggled with making the right choices, when greeting new humans that would arrive at our house, especially the little ones ! With our family about to expand, these were very concerning issues for us. Since starting classes, we have completed two levels of training and are so happy with the progress Nova and ourselves have made.
Odette is so patient and really focuses on the needs of each dog. She has trained us on how to effectively train Nova and keep up with her learning out in the real world. Nova is now 22 months old; we walk between 4 and 7 kilometres a day and she does not leave my side. When people arrive at our house she still gets very excited but her choices have improved tremendously and she does not jump up on people.
We cannot thank Odette enough for all of her hard work and dedication. We are very grateful for her help and cannot wait to continue more classes in the future !

“Until two years ago the only pets I’d ever had were cats. My cats were well trained and I assumed the way I trained them would work on my new puppy. Was I wrong!!!
After watching a million YouTube videos, my head was spinning with contradictory methods. My neighbour finally told me about Odette's K9 Solutions.
I brought my seven month old Coton du Tulear puppy, Pepperpot, to a six week puppy training course. I found Odette to be friendly, kind, patient and very capable of handling all of the dogs present. It is evident she loves what she does.
The class grounded basic commands like Come, Stay, Sit and Down more deeply and introduced new commands such “Look at me” and “Place” which have proven to be very important.
By the time the class was over I realized it wasn’t just Pepperpot who had been trained – I had been trained too. Odette had taught me how to communicate with and train my own dog.
I highly recommend Odette’s training to anyone who wants an obedient, well-behaved dog."
