Miss Margo is a big dog in a little dogs body! Born deaf and having a strong working drive, was a recipe for disaster. I was called in to help when she got out and decided to 'herd' a large number of cows into an electric fence that broke and the cows were loose! Sweet as she was this could never happen again!
We started working immediately with e-collar conditioning. She did fantastic with only a few hiccups along the way. The owners and teens worked hard and it has paid off. They now have a reliably trained dog!
"I found myself a little out of my dog training depth when I took on a second dog that happened to be both high drive and deaf.
With no idea where to start I researched the subject and began contacting trainers for assistance. I spoke to a few but felt that Odette understood what needed to be done to move forward with our situation and lifestyle.
Odette came to our property showed me and my family how to work positively with the dogs and fine tune our skills. When I had questions and concerns that I may not be able to accomplish the training, she remained positive and helped us through the tough moments, that every journey to a well behaved dog goes through."
Thanks for everything Odette !! You were a big help !!

We started our training journey with Odette when Nova was 14 months old. At that time she was terrible at leash walking and struggled with making the right choices, when greeting new humans that would arrive at our house, especially the little ones ! With our family about to expand, these were very concerning issues for us. Since starting classes, we have completed two levels of training and are so happy with the progress Nova and ourselves have made.
Odette is so patient and really focuses on the needs of each dog. She has trained us on how to effectively train Nova and keep up with her learning out in the real world. Nova is now 22 months old; we walk between 4 and 7 kilometres a day and she does not leave my side. When people arrive at our house she still gets very excited but her choices have improved tremendously and she does not jump up on people.
We cannot thank Odette enough for all of her hard work and dedication. We are very grateful for her help and cannot wait to continue more classes in the future !

My name is Tracy and my dog is Newman, he is a 12 month old chocolate lab that loves all dogs and people. Odette has been working with Newman and I for the last 8 months and Newman and I have come a long way.
Odette is a patient and understanding trainer and Newman loves being with her. Her flexibility to your families lifestyle makes the training a lot less stressful and helps you become a successful trainer.
Newman and I are returning clients because Odette helps us learn we can be successful and Newman is coming a long way as he grows up.

“Until two years ago the only pets I’d ever had were cats. My cats have always been well trained and I assumed the way I trained them would work on my new puppy. Was I wrong!!!
After watching a million You Tube videos about dog training, my head was spinning with contradictory methods. My neighbour finally told me about Odette Van Raath. I brought my seven month old Coton du Tulear puppy, Pepperpot, to a six week puppy training course. I found Odette to be friendly, kind and patient and very capable of handling all of the dogs present. It is evident she loves what she does. There were about seven other dogs in the class so Pepperpot got some good socialization with both people and dogs.
The class grounded basic commands like Come, Stay, Sit and Down more deeply and introduced new commands such “Look at me” and “Place” which have proven to be very important.
By the time the class was over I realized it wasn’t just Pepperpot who had been trained – I had been trained too. Odette had taught me how to communicate with and train my own dog.
I highly recommend Odette’s training to anyone who wants an obedient, well-behaved dog."
